Tarlac State University is a chartered State University with one hundred years of educational service to the people of Tarlac and Central Luzon Region. It started its humble beginning as an elementary trade school in 1906 to a secondary school in 1919. Later it progressed into a collegiate technical school (Tarlac School of Arts and Trades) in 1959 to a full-fledged college (Tarlac College of Technology) in 1965 and finally, to its conversion into a university (Tarlac State University) on October 13, 1989 by virtue of Act 6764.
